Will the Reds gamble on Yu?
Yu Darvish is the big news right now and everyone wants to know who will land this great pitcher. I wonder if Cincinnati Reds will even send in an offer. I highly doubt it, but it sure would be a nice treat to hear they did. It would of course be their biggest news this whole offseason.
Yu has pitched 4 seasons for Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japan Pacific League where he has a 58 – 22 record with 98 games started and 792.1 innings pitched getting 807 strike outs and only allowing 185 walks. He has also only allowed 34 home runs which would be a very nice plus if he came to Great American Ball Park. This whole offseason I have kept my dreaming in check and not once did I ever suggest the Reds were big players for any free agents until now. I think it is time the Reds take another big chance and get Yu Darvish. They have Aroldis Chapman, why not get Yu too.

Darvish is going to be one heck of a pitcher. I don’t believe that Japanese players coming to the US are all bad. I think he’ll end up being a solid #2 pitcher. As for who lands him, I’m gonna have to go with the Rangers, Red Sox, or Yankees, just because of the money.

It will be interesting to see how much it costs just to talk with him. I just hope he lands on a team outside of the Central division in the National League. The Reds have a hard enough time with the pitchers already here.
