Vote for Jamie Ramsey

If you are a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, now is the time to show some love and vote for Jamie Ramsey. If you have twitter go and vote now and show how much you love the blog, Better Off Red. Here is the direct link to vote for Jamie Ramsey as “The Best Baseball in Social Media”.

A great way to start off the day

Cincinnati Reds Assistant Director of Media Relations Jamie Ramsey from Better Off Red writes a special guest post for The Morning Line, 1/13 (Better Off Red edition).

If you have not had a chance to read it yet, I seriously recommend it. Jamie Ramsey of course is the inside man for all Reds fans to follow along with such greats like John Fay and Mark Sheldon. No real Reds fan can go on cheering without following these guys for the inside scoop on the team. @Jamieblog, @johnfayman and @m_sheldon.

How smart is your Scoreboard Operator?

Cincinnati Reds Great American Ball Park Scoreboard Operator Rich Linville will be on MLB Network’s Baseball IQ trying to win money for the Reds Community Fund. I had the chance to listen to Rich talk to Mo Egger on Cincinnati’s ESPN 1530 today and I just have to take my hat off to the man, because there is no way I would ever be able to answer any of the questions he mentioned without a computer handy. (Then again, I have the worst memory known to man.) Rich Linville is of course the man who comes up with the Scoreboard Stumpers at Great American Ball Park which Mo Egger went on to say he has lost tons of money with beer bets on trying to get the right answer. I am glad I am not a part of that bet, because I know for a fact Mo Egger would be winning more than losing against me. Although I might be willing to bet on who will win in Baseball IQ against Mo Egger if I get to pick Rich. I first read about this story at Jamie Ramsey’s Blog ‘Better Off Red’ – “BASEBALL IQ” Here is a great story about this at Cincinnati.com – “Reds’ scoreboard guy’s in limelight.” [Source - @Jamieblog]

I would like to wish Rich Linville good luck and I know that a lot of Reds fans will be cheering him.

I would also like to thank Jamie Ramsey for the shout out today on Twitter.

Better Off Red made my day!

I got my Better Off Red t-shirt today and I just have to show it off. As a Reds fan I have found Jamie Ramsey to be the man to follow when I want to know what is happening with the team and staff. Mark Sheldon and John Fay are two others I follow and I respect them just as much as I do Jamie Ramsey when it comes to the Reds. So when Jamie Ramsey sent me an email asking for my address so he could send me a shirt I was blown away. I am still shocked to tell you the truth. It is a huge honor to have this and the best part of all is that he signed it for me! Now, before any rumors start, NO! this shirt and autograph are not for sale, nor will they ever be. :)

Reds Caravan information for 2012

Jamie Ramsey and Mark Sheldon have posted on their blogs about the Cincinnati Reds 2012 Caravan and I thought I would put the links on here for future reference. If you are planning on going or have gone before please feel free to share your experience with us in the comments.

Jamie Ramsey: “2012 REDS CARAVAN SET FOR JANUARY 26-29

Mark Sheldon: “2012 Caravan revealed” and “THE 2012 CINCINNATI REDS CARAVAN WILL MAKE STOPS IN OHIO, KENTUCKY, INDIANA AND WEST VIRGINIA!

Top MLBlogs of 2011

Since starting 2r2d I have come across many great MLBlogs and I just wanted to congratulate every blog that made the top list for 2011. There are many great blogs on there so please take some time and go check them out at MLB.com Blogs Central. Some blogs that should get a huge pat on the back are Better Off Red by Jamie Ramsey who finished 2nd in MLB PRO. Reds Country which finished 55th with FANS and Mark My Word by Mark Sheldon which finished 8th under MLB.COM BEAT WRITERS.

Brian Peacock and the Blue Wahoos

Jamie Ramsey posted about “RECENT REDS MINOR LEAGUE SIGNINGS” on Better Off Red and Mark Sheldon posted that “P.J. Phillips signed” and he also talked about RHP Michael Griffin. I talked a little about C Brian Esposito before in “The Reds made another move?” So I thought I would post about another player who signed with Cincinnati Reds affiliate, Penascola Blue Wahoos, C Brian Peacock.

Brian Peacock was drafted by Oakland Athletics in the 22nd round of the 2003 amateur draft and the Montreal Expos in the 39th round of the 2004 MLB Amateur draft. He has been in the minor leagues for 6 years with a career .238 batting average in Rk, A, A+ and AA. 5 of those seasons were with A+ Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League where he had a .242 batting average and a .309 OBP.

In 308 games as catcher he has a 34% CS% with 273 SB and 140 CS. He has also played 4 games in right field, 5 games in left field, 4 games at first and 2 games at third base along with some pitching too. Brian Peacock is a veteran catcher that will help out Penascola in 2012 and I like the idea of having someone named Peacock playing for the Blue Wahoos, makes for interesting writing. Some readers might see the title of this post and think it is about one of Jamie Ramsey’s favorite bands.

I have to be honest, I liked the name and the idea of Penascola Blue Wahoos before I even knew who they were affiliated with. Once I found out that they were a Cincinnati Reds affiliate, I went crazy. I am really looking forward to seeing how well they do in 2012 and with having Brian Peacock and P.J. Phillips on the team already I know they will play some great baseball.

2r2d Podcast: Episode 1 (01.03.12)

I wanted to try out a podcast to start off 2012. I am not sure if I will do a lot of podcasts but if feedback is good it might become a welcome addition to the blog. This first episode is about what I have posted on 2r2d blog. Mat Latos, Sean Marshall and Josh Judy are talked about in this episode.
